African American Graduation Celebration

This is a graduation and completion celebration for African American students and their families.


Schedule

Our Annual African American Graduation Celebration will be held on:

Saturday, May 14, 2017, at 1:00pm
Fresno City College, Old Administration Building (OAB) Auditorium 

Reception following at 2:00 p.m., East Courtyard (OAB)

Registration Deadline: Friday, April 29, 2017

Rehearsal: Friday, April 29, 2017 at 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

All graduates must attend the rehearsal.

Important

Graduates are required to arrive by 12:00 pm at the OAB Auditorium.

Graduates must be prepared to form the procession line by 12:45 pm or they will not be able to participate. Fresno City College Ambassadors will be available to assist graduates in the process.

Graduates will be asked to fill out a 3x5 card with their name, major (degree or certificate) and a “Thank You” message of their choice. The “Thank you” messages cannot be more than 25 words. Graduates will be asked to read their “Thank You” message during the graduation ceremony when their name is announced.

Graduates who may need special accommodations for seating due to a disability must inform a Fresno City College Ambassador for assistance.

Registration Form

To participate in the FCC African American Graduation Celebration 2016, students must complete and submit the free registration form online before April 29, 2016.

Reception

Following the graduation celebration, we invite you and your family to continue celebrating with us at the reception. The reception will be held in the East Courtyard of the OAB immediately following the graduation. Light refreshments will be served and entertaining music will be provided. All all welcome!

For guests who would like to attend the reception that will immediately follow the ceremony, please register at the link below. No reservation is needed for the graduation ceremony.

The Kente Sash

The Kente Sash is a “gift” that each graduate will receive the day of the celebration. Graduates are to wear the Kente Sash during the graduation celebration.

Graduation Attire

No cap and gown is required. Please dress in professional attire (suit and tie, dresses, slacks, heels, etc.). Graduates will have their picture taken.

Parking

There will be free/relaxed parking available in campus parking lots. Guests with Wheel Chairs- Handicapped seating is available in the theatre. Please seek usher assistance.

Guests with Hearing Impairments- Sign-language interpretation services will be available throughout the graduation celebration. An interpreter will be positioned on stage.

African-American Graduation Celebration Pictures

A high quality digital picture of each graduate shaking hands with the president of Fresno City College, will be taken as each student makes their way across the stage. Pictures of the graduate and president can be purchased from the photographer. The photographer can do a framed 5X7 for $10 which can be picked up the night of graduation. Packages can be mailed to the student 2 weeks after.

$5 sitting fee – will go towards the purchase of portrait package if desired .
Portrait packages are optional and will cost additional amount.
