Welcome to the Fresno City College Women’s Badminton site.
Since our inception in 2000, the women’s badminton team at FCC has had a successful history. Every year we have had several players compete at the State Championship level, in either singles and/or doubles. In 2007, our team was the Northern California State Champion.
FCC has a very experienced and knowledgeable coaching staff including Benedictus Azali, whose primary focus is on court conditioning and drills involving arm strength and foot speed. Coach Tai Bambusa’s strengths include court strategy, player positioning and court movement.
We compete during the spring semester and travel outside our conference to play our matches since we are the only community college in the Central Valley Conference to have a badminton team. Our travel takes us to the Bay area to compete.
Typically, when a match is played, it takes about three hours to complete. We play four rounds – two rounds of singles play and two rounds of doubles play. Interestingly, most of our student athletes compete in both singles and doubles.
