Head Coach- Tony Caviglia

After five seasons at Fresno City College, Tony Caviglia has posted a 47-8 overall record. His FCC teams have won nine or more games a year during his 5 year tenure. Four of those losses have been in postseason games and three have been to teams that became the national champion. Caviglia came to FCC in 1999 after three-years as Chabot College's head coach where he posted a 22-10 record. His seven-year record as a community college head football coach is 69-18.

In each of his 5 years his teams have played for the Valley Conference Championship. In 2000 and 2001, his Rams posted back-to-back 10-1 records and won Valley Conference championships. These were the best finishes in FCC football since the 1972 and 1973 state championship teams, which posted identical 11-1-1 records. Caviglia was voted Valley Conference Coach of the Year by his peers in 2000 and 2001.

Prior to becoming a head coach at the community college level, Caviglia was the defensive line coach at Purdue University from 1991 to 1993. His career as an assistant football coach also includes stops at Ohio State, Southern California, and New Mexico State where he coached in the 1988 Rose Bowl, 1987 Florida Citrus Bowl and the 1990 Liberty Bowl.

Tony Caviglia and Football PlayerCaviglia and his staff, in addition to winning football games, have put a great premium on ensuring that sophomores move on to the four-year level whether or not the player is an NCAA Division I prospect. In this endeavor, they have been greatly successful as 33 sophomores transferred in 2003.

He received his bachelor's degree in physical education from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and a master's degree in sports administration from USC.

Caviglia, 42, and his wife Kristi have three sons, Andrew, 14, Michael, 12 and Nicholas, 5. They reside in Fresno.
