Scott Stark, Fresno City College Men's Golf Coach
Hello, and welcome to the Fresno City College Men’s Golf website! My name is Scott Stark, and I would like to introduce you to the Ram program. Last season, the 2007 Rams finished with a 55-1 dual match record, one of the best in the long and illustrious history of the program. In three seasons as the Head Coach of the Rams, we have a dual match record of 161-4 overall, including 143-1 in the Central Valley Conference.
In 2007, the Fresno City College Rams captured the Central Valley Conference Championship for the 18th time in the program’s rich history with an undefeated record of
48-0. We were champions of all twelve conference tournaments, and finished with a total of 60 points in the final team standings. The Rams advanced to the postseason for the 22nd time overall, finishing 3rd in Northern California, and also 3rd at State.
The F.C.C. Rams were well represented on the All-CVC team in 2007. For the third straight year five members of the Fresno City team made the ten man squad. Scott Bubb was the Conference M.V.P., and was joined by Chris Arnold, Christian Rose, Art Samora and Kevin Tarango who were all unanimously voted for all league honors. Also of note, seven of the top nine stroke averages in the conference were F.C.C. Rams golfers. Please refer to the icons on the right of your computer screen to find out more about the 2007 Fresno City College Rams very successful season.
Fig Garden Golf Club is the home course for the Fresno City College Rams Golf team. At 6700 yards, with a slope of 71.6 and a rating of 124, it is a very fine course. Fig Garden Golf Club has been great to the Rams for many years, and we hope to continue that relationship for many more years to come.
The 2008 Fresno City College Rams Golf team will consist of 12 golfers. Tryouts will take place in the second week of January. There will be four rounds of qualifying to make the team, at four different golf courses in Fresno over a two week period in January. The twelve best players will make up the team for 2008. Anyone is welcome to try out, but understand that competition for the squad will be extremely competitive. In addition, all interested golfers must set a class schedule that leaves Tuesdays and Thursdays open, as those are the days we compete in tournaments in our conference. All classes should be on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and each student must be out of class by 12:00 noon on those days to attend practice, which will begin at 1:00 p.m.
