Career & Technology Center

With a 94%-plus placement rate, it's apparent that the Fresno City College Vocational Training Center is succeeding as a significant resource to both its students and the community. The VTC staff does its part by identifying needed job skills of employers, and VTC students do their part by acquiring those skills through the hands-on training VTC provides.

For over 31 years, VTC has taught practical skills in an environment closely resembling the actual workplace. This learning environment, along with a "hands-on" educational style, allows students to develop skills that best prepare them for their chosen careers. Open entry allows flexible start dates.

VTC and now CTC is ASE Certified

After extensive evaluation, The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence has designated VTC an ASE certified training facility in engine performance/electrical and brakes, suspension/steering.

We Serve the Student and the Community

CTC provides employable skills training to students 18 years of age and older, who do or do not possess a high school diploma; or, if under 18 with a high school diploma or equivalent. Training programs are from 10 to 30 weeks and are designed for concentrated learning.

Working in partnership with industry, CTC's programs mirror industries' needs; new programs are continually developed to teach skills that relate directly to jobs. The end result is highly skilled workers ready to land jobs that pay well.

FCC's VTC: The Best in California

FCC's Vocational Training Center has received State and National recognition as a model vocational education school excelling in community partnerships, competency based education and job placement. Open entry allows individual instruction with "senior" students mentoring new students.

Student Services
Counseling. CTC provides enrollment assistance, orientation for new students and counseling for personal, motivational and academic concerns. CTC has an on site counselor.

Job Placement. Job development and pre-employment counseling are available for all students. A job developer provides employment leads for graduates in all training fields. All graduating students complete at least 4 hours of job search workshop training and leave with a completed resume.

Opening Doors To Employment

The Vocational Training Center provides support for individuals committed to self improvement. The unique, hands-on programs offer:

  • Open entry
  • No tuition
  • Financial aid for those eligible
