FEDERAL AID
- Federal Pell Grant :
- This grant is awarded primarily on financial need.
- Pell Grant amounts vary from student to student and range from $400-$4050 for one academic school year.
- Payment amounts are calculated on number of units enrolled in and attending are paid in the form of a check, generally twice a semester.
- Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG ):
- This grant is limited and is awarded to students with the greatest financial need and is offered on a first-come/first-serve basis until all funds are exhausted.
- No additional application is required.
- Requires at least 6 units of enrollment and is paid in the form of a check once a semester.
- Federal Work Study:
- This is awarded to students who indicate they are interested in student employment on FAFSA question # 28.
- It is offered on a first-come/first-serve basis until all funds are exhausted.
- Requires at least 6 units of enrollment and is paid in the form of a check every 10th of the month.
- Federal Direct Student Loans:
- A student loan is borrowed money, which must be repaid.
- Direct Loans are funded by the U.S. Department of Education; you repay a Direct Loan to the U.S. Department of Education.
- You must be enrolled in at least 6 units.
- Students who are on Financial Aid Disqualification are not eligible for a student loan.
- You must submit a FAFSA, take an online test and attend a counseling session.
- Federal Family Education Loan Program :
- The main difference between FFEL Program and Direct Loans is that you receive FFEL Program funds from private lenders such as banks, credit unions, or other lenders that participate in the FFEL Program
- You repay a FFEL to the private lender that made the loan to you or its designated agency
STATE AID
- Board of Governors Fee Waiver Program
- This is not a cash award, but if eligible, your enrollment will be waived for the academic year.
- You must be a California Resident as determined by Admissions and Records.
- The fee waiver covers enrollment fees (including any fee increases) and
- This grant does not require a separate application if you complete your FAFSA early. However, there is a separate application available in the Financial Aid Office if you submit your FAFSA late. Check with your Financial Aid Office for more information.
- Cal Grants
Eligibility is first determined by the California Student Aid Commission and then the school you plan to attend. At Fresno City College, you must have at least 6 units of enrollment to receive your Cal Grant and is paid in the form of a check once a semester.

- If you are awarded Cal Grant A it will remain on reserve until you transfer to a 4-year college.
- Assists with tuition and fees for students at public and independent colleges
- Based on merit (3.0 GPA) and income
- $5,684 at UC campuses, $2,334 at CSU campuses and $8,322 for tuition and fees at independent colleges
- Cal Grant B
- Assists of an access costs grant and , in some cases, a tuition/fee award
- Merit (2.0 GPA)
- Awards range from $700 to $1,551 for books and living expenses
- Cal Grant C
- Assist students in occupational or vocational programs
- Tuition and training costs
- $576 for books, tools, and equipment
- Up to $2,592 in tuition assistance for schools other than a California community college

- Scholarships
- Central Valley President's Scholarship Program:
A partnership with the Central Valley Higher Education Consortium and the Hispanic College Fund.

- Veterans' Scholarship America:
For Veterans who have served and been deployed to Afghanistan or Iraq after September 11, 2001. Apply here
- Scholarship Applications must be submitted online at https://www.scholarx.fresnocitycollege.edu by March 2nd of each year, to be considered for scholarships the following academic year.

- You must have a Social Security Number or a Fresno City College ID number to apply.
- Most scholarships require an enrollment of 12 units or more unless stated otherwise. Registered Nursing, Dental Hygiene, and Radiological Technology scholarships require at least 9 units.
- To be considered for a scholarship award, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) must be completed and sent on or before the filing deadline of March 2.
