Q: How much will the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) exam cost me?
A:
The cost of the TEAS exam is approximately $45.00.  Due to budget decrease, Fresno City College Nursing Department will no longer pay for students to take the exam.  Students will be asked to pay the cost of the exam at the time of testing by using a major credit card or debit card only.  The remediation process (if necessary) is free of charge to Fresno City College nursing student candidates.
Q: Is Fresno City College Nursing Program accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission, Inc. (NLNAC)?
A:
No. Fresno City College Nursing Program is not accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission, Inc.  The NLNAC is an optional accreditation process for community colleges.
Q: What percentage do I need to score on the TEAS exam to be allowed to enter the RN program?
A:
The TEAS tests students in four subject areas: a) Reading, b) Math, c) English & Language, and d) Science.  Students must earn an overall score of 62% or higher in order to begin the RN program for the semester in which they were selected.  Students who earn an overall score below 62% will be enrolled in remediation workshops within the Health Sciences Division before given the opportunity to retest to improve their score.  Students who are required to retest will not be able to begin the nursing program until they meet the required overall score of 62% or higher.
Q: When can I register for classes?
A:

Registration for all students for Summer and Fall 2012 classes is going on now. The deadline to register for Summer classes is Thursday, June 14th. The deadline to register for Fall classes is Thursday, August 9th.

Q: I am currently in the Registered Nursing lottery. When am I required to complete the TEAS exam?
A:
All students applying to the Registered Nursing program are HIGHLY ENCOURAGED to complete the ATI TEAS version V exam as soon as possible. Applicants are required to submit a copy of their TEAS exam results with their Nursing application or transfer their scores to Fresno City College through www.atitesting.com website. Students must achieve a passing score of 62% or higher. Under special circumstances, applicants who have successfully completed the TEAS exam with a passing score of 62% or higher may be considered to enter the RN program if any new openings become available due to federal grant funding.
Q: When should I see a Health Sciences Counselor?
A:

Prior to meeting with a Health Sciences Counselor, students are required to attend a Nursing and Allied Health Information Orientation.  Students can attend the orientation "ONLINE" or on a "LIVE" basis.  For the online orientation and/or dates for a "LIVE" orientation please go to www.fresnocitycollege.edu / Health Sciences Division/ Orientations.

Students should make an appointment with a Health Science Counselor if they:

  1. have questions regarding the prerequisite courses and the sequencing of courses.
  2. have completed courses at other colleges and want to know if the courses will transfer.
  3. have foreign education transcripts.

Q: What happens if I fail the TEAS test? Can I still get into the RN Program?
A:
If you do not achieve a passing score of 62% or higher on the TEAS test version V, you will be enrolled in a mandatory remediation workshop within the Health Sciences Division before given another opportunity to retest. This remediation opportunity will be provided so you may achieve a passing score. All RN students must achieve a passing score of 62% or higher on TEAS version V before they are allowed to begin the RN program. Please see a Health Science Counselor for further explanation.
Q: How many transcripts are required to be submitted with my Health Sciences Program application?
A:

Q: What does "ADMIN CLOSE" mean on the lottery database?

Q: Do I have to reapply every semester for a Health Sciences program?
A:
