Q: How do I apply for financial aid?
A:

To apply for financial aid, you must submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). To do so, go to www.fafsa.gov.  If you need assistance with the FAFSA, please visit our Financial Aid computer Lab located in LI-123 in the East Annex of the Library Building.

Q: My address has changed. How do I change it with the school?
A:
Address updates and corrections should be done through our WebAdvisor website.  If you need help using WebAdvisor or don't have access to a computer, you may use our Web Room which is located on the bottom floor of the Student Services building.
Q: How will I be notified if I am selected to receive a scholarship?
A:
Selection process will take place from March thru August.  Scholarship recipients will be notified by district email around mid-August.  The email will advise recipients on the terms of the award, the upcoming Scholarship event, and how the award will be received.  You should check your district email on a regular basis.
Q: What GPA will be used when determining eligibility for scholarships?
A:
FCC will use the Cumulative GPA as of the end of the fall term for our current FCC students.  High school students and students with NO PRIOR COLLEGE UNITS COMPLETED must submit the Scholarship GPA Verification Form, found on our FCC scholarship webpage, to their high school Registrar's office for verification of their last GPA.  These completed forms must be recieved by the FCC Scholarship Office no later than March 2nd.  Students who have attended other colleges must have their transcripts evaluated with our Records Department by March 2nd to ensure using the correct GPA.
Q: How do I submit my letters of recommendation?
A:
The application requires two letters of recommendation from professional individuals who can attest to your academic, leadership, or employment abilities and ethics.  Recommenders can be counselors, instructors, employers, doctors, social workers, etc.  You must obtain the recommender's email address and correctly type it into the online application to ensure proper submission to the recommender.  The recommender will click on the link given in the email they receive to successfully complete the process.
Q: How do I submit my personal statement or essay for the online scholarship application?
A:
You may type your one page, single-spaced personal statement or essay in a WORD document, then save it to a file and use the Copy and Paste feature to add it to the online application on page 6.  You may also type it directly into the application, however, you will be timed out after 45 minutes of non use and your page will not be saved unless you click SAVE periodically.
Q: How do I know if my scholarship recommenders have responded to my email request?
A:
Once you have submitted your online scholarship application, you may go back into the application under "Returning User" only to review the Letter of Recommendation page.  There you will be able to see if they have responded, send another request, or withdraw a request and enter another recommender's email address.  There is space for up to three recommendations, but only two are required.  Prior to the recommender's deadline, it is your responsibility to manage your letters of recommendation by contacting your recommender if he or she has not submitted one in a timely manner.  The recommenders have a deadline of one week after the student's deadline to submit their responses.
Q: How do I submit my GPA for the scholarship application if I am currently a high school student?
A:
Current high school seniors must complete the Scholarship GPA Verification Form found on the Fresno City College scholarship web page.  Print the form, complete and sign the top section, and take it to your high school registrars' office for verification of your GPA.  The registrar can mail or fax it to the FCC Scholarship Office.  The deadline for submission is March 2nd.
