Student Email

The student email system has been converted to Office 365. 

In 2010, Fresno City College and the other campuses of the State Center Community College District partnered with Microsoft to provide college email accounts for our students. Since then, all communication from the college to our students has been through student email exclusively.

Student email is REQUIRED for all students, and is essential to student success. If you have not activated your account yet, please do so immediately by clicking one of the following links:

Q: What if I forgot my password?
A:

If you have forgotten your student email password, or if you are trying to activate your account and the default password is not accepted, you can call the Student Services Help Desk at (559) 499-6070 or (866) 245-3276 and we will reset your password for you.

Q: Do I have to have Microsoft Outlook on my computer to access my student email?
A:

No. The Office 365 email system we use for student email is entirely web-based, which means no additional software is required to use it.

Q: How do I access my student email from another account?
A:

If you would like to access your student email from another email provider (like Gmail or Yahoo), you will need the POP and SMTP settings for your student email account. Here they are:

POP3 setting 
    Server name: outlook.office365.com 
    Port: 995 
    Encryption method: SSL

SMTP setting 
    Server name: smtp.office365.com 
    Port: 587 
    Encryption method: TLS

Q: How do I change my password?
A:

After you log into your account, click the little wheel next to your name at the top right corner of the page.  A short list of options will appear. When it does, click on “Options”. When the Options page loads, you will see a link on the right side of the page that says, “Change your password”.

Q: How do I forward my student email to my personal email account?
A:

After you log into your account, click the little wheel next to your name at the top right corner of the page. A short list of options will appear. When it does, click on “Options”.  When the Options page loads, you will see a link on the right side of the page that says, “Forward your e-mail”.

Q: How do I log into and set up my student email account?
A:

Setting up and using your student email account is crucial to your success as a Fresno City College student. It is the only way we communicate with our students, and the only account students may use to email their instructors.

To set up your student email account, go to Step-By-Step Instructions for Student Email. There you will find detailed, easy to follow instructions that will guide you in logging into and activating your student email account.

If you have already set up your email account, you can access the login page by clicking the Email link at the top of the home pages of any campus website in our district.

To access the login page for your student email account, click on the “Email” link at the top of the Fresno City College website home page.  Similar links are also available on our other campus website home pages, although it may say "Student Mail" instead of "Email".

Q: What do I enter where it asks for my "organizational account"?
A:

Your organizational account is also your student email address. Here’s an example: smith_0123456@my.scccd.edu (you will need to substitute your own last name and student ID number).

Note: If you have a double or hyphenated last name, you need to join the two parts of your name together. For example:

If your name is Melissa Jones-Smith, your organizational account is: jonessmith_0123456@my.scccd.edu

If your name is John Smith Jones, your organizational account is smithjones_0123456@my.scccd.edu

Q: What is my password?
A:

The default password assigned to everyone is P@ssword123 (case sensitive). Once you log into your account, you can choose your own password on the Options page.

Q: Why do I have to use the Student email when I have my own email?
A:

Because through experience we’ve learned that too many outside email providers screen or block our emails. Creating and requiring the use of a student email system is the only way we can be 100% certain that you receive all the important information you need to succeed. You can, however, forward your student email to your personal email account. There is an option to do so on the Options page of your student email account.
