This coming year, all eyes will be on Fresno City College as we become the first community college in California to celebrate its one-hundredth anniversary. We have planned a year’s-worth of events for this momentous occasion beginning with the Centennial Ball on December 31, 2009 and culminating with a formal Centennial Convocation on September 10, 2010. Local, state, and national dignitaries will be invited, and on and off campus events and activities to celebrate the many accomplishments and history of our institution will fill the months between.
Established by C.L. McLane in 1910, FCC has earned its place as “the community’s college.” A century ago, Fresno Junior College opened its door with only 20 students and three instructors. Now boasting an enrollment of over 25,000 students and over 1500 full and part time faculty, Fresno City College has become a city within itself. Join us as we celebrate this significant milestone as California’s first community college and the second oldest in the nation.
