The Preparatory English Department is designed to help you improve your skills in reading and writing. Whether you are a recent high school graduate or you have been out of school for a few years and want a refresher course in reading, writing, or both, these courses can help make your transition to college coursework less stressful. The reading courses help to prepare you for; college level reading material; the writing courses help ready you for assignments that are consistent with college level expression.

Preparatory English courses are intended to assist students in attaining a two-year college degree, transfer to a four-year college, and achieve personal and professional goals at work. In addition, students gain added confidence in performance endeavors outside of school and work.

Students are required to complete the entry level assessment exams for proper placement in these courses.

Students who are non-native speakers of English may wish to contact the ESL Department for reading and writing courses. Additional classes are also available for qualified students with disabilities.
