Mission: The Reconstruction program at Fresno City College Will positively impact our community by rehabilitating homes in blighted neighborhoods, While providing adults with college level course work coupled with hands-on training in the area of basic housing reconstruction with a focus on employment readiness.
Fresno City College has been awarded a grant through the Hispanic Serving Institutions Assisting Communities (HSIAC) program at Housing and Urban Development (HUD). With this grant we have developed a program that will train and allow students to revitalize a house. This is a three year grant in which we will be running cohorts (groups of students) each year to revitalize a Fresno home in the Lowell neighborhood.
The ReConstuction program curriculum is designed to offer students college level coursework and hands-on training which will prepare them for entry level positions into the housing rehabilitation, revitalization, and reconstruction of pre-existing homes and buildings. This is a short-term intensive program with both classroom instruction and job-site training.
We are currently recruiting for Cohort 3 which begins June 8, 2012 - spread the word!
