Admission Requirements

Apply to Fresno City College and join our thriving and diversified student body. To determine whether you areBookstore Image eligible for admission to Fresno City College, please complete and return the following documents;

  1. TOEFL or IELTS
  2. Bank Statement or Bank Letter
  3. Affidavit of Support
  4. High school or college transcripts (official copies in a sealed envelope will be required) 
  5. Online Application needs to be completed online.  

Complete and submit no later than April 15, 2014 for the fall 2014 semester, and September 15, 2013 for the spring 2014 semester by postal mail, FAX (559) 442-8243 or email.

How to apply online:

  • Go to www.fresnocitycollege.edu located bottom left hand corner of the website and click on " Apply Online" then follow the links and you will come to the page "Application for Admission".
  • Go down to the bottom of the page and click on "Begin Application for State Center Community College District" then you will be asked to create an account with a User Name and a password. With the user name and password you can click on "log on"
  • Please send an email when you receive confirmation that your application was accepted. fccintad@fresnocitycollege.edu

We require the following documents

·        School Records:
Official transcripts/certificates and evidence of graduation from a secondary school or its equivalent are required. Please submit records in your language and in English. If records are not in English, certified translation must be furnished.

·        TOEFL:
A TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) score of 500 paper base, 61 IBT, 173 computer base is required from students who are "out of country." It is advisable that the TOEFL is taken early to ensure that this information is received at our office by the application deadline. For more information on the TOEFL please visit the TOEFL website.

      If you studied English at a Language School in the United States we accept a TOEFL score of 460 paper base, 48 IBT.  If you attended college or high school in the United States the TOEFL requirement is waived.  If you studied English in your Country TOEFL requirement can be waived with a letter from the school or college you attended.

·        IELTS         
IELTS (International English Language Testing System) is going through approval.

·        Financial Statements:
Please state amount and source of support using the Affidavit of Support form. Also required is a letter from the sponsor's bank validating that funds are available for the student's living expenses and school expenses.

Your admission will be determined upon receipt of these documents. We will inform you of your status by postal mail or email.

Accepted
If you are accepted you will receive the Certificate of Eligibility (Form I-20) which is necessary for obtaining a visa from the United States Immigration and Naturalization Service for F-1 status. Note that the Form I-20 is good only for the semester(s) for which it is issued and always carries a beginning and an expiration date. The Form I-20 will be mailed directly to your home address.  How to apply for a F1 Visa.

Incomplete
If your admission status is incomplete for current entry, you will receive a letter by postal mail or email indicating the necessary documents that will be required to complete your file for future enrollment.

Not Accepted
If not accepted you will receive correspondence by postal mail or email specifying the reason(s).

The Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services(BCIS), an agency of the Department of Justice, is responsible for enforcing the laws regulating the admission of foreign-born persons (i.e., aliens) to the United States and for administering various immigration benefits, including the naturalization of qualified applicants for U.S. citizenship. INS also works with the Department of State, the Department of Health and Human Services and the United Nations in the admission and resettlement of refugees. BCIS is headed by a Commissioner who reports to the Attorney General.

Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS)
Fresno City College is in compliance with the regulations of the INS to report the following information to the Student and Exchange Visitor Program; name, address, country of birth, country of citizenship, date of birth, course of study, and other information about your stay at Fresno City College. There is nothing you need to do to fulfill this requirement, it is taken care of by Fresno City College.
