This 268-hour program will prepare you for the requirements of pharmacy technician as recognized by the California State Board of Pharmacy.  The program includes 148 hours of classroom instruction and 120 hours of clinical experience.  You will prepare for an entry-level position as a pharmacy technician in a hospital or retail pharmacy.  Attend the mandatory orientation in order to register for this training.

What you'll learn:

  • Pharmacy math and calculations
  • Anatomy and physiology
  • Pharmacology and pharmacy law
  • Medication distribution and control measures

Required to register:

  • Attendance at orientation, a math assessment on fractions, decimals, ratios and percentages will be given at the orientation, calculators can be used, a score of 70% or higher is required to enter the program, bring a #2 pencil
  • Immunizations (learn more at orientation)
  • Liability insurance (learn more at the orientation)
  • A high school diploma or GED
  • Purchase of textbooks

Advisory notes:

  • Keyboarding skills and medical terminology are recommended
  • The state of California requires criminal record clearance through fingerprinting when applying for registration as a pharmacy technician
