Residential Care for the Elderly (RCFE)

40-Hour Initial Certification

This 40-hour course is designed to provide information required by the State Department of Social Services for initial certification for RCFE administrators.  The course will provide a foundation for a career as an administrator in a residential care facility or assisted living facility for the elderly.

  • Medication
  • Admission and assessment retention
  • Alzheimer's and dementia training

What you need to do to become certified:

  • Complete an initial 40-hour certification course
  • Pass a standardized test administered by the Department of Social Services
  • Submit a completed request for Administrator Certificate form
  • Obtain a Criminal Record Clearance from the DOJ
  • Submit a non-refundable $100 processing fee (to State of California)
