RN Review & Skills Practice

Take this course as a review of hospital-based practice of professional nursing skills for registered nurses and foreign educated nurses wishing to re-enter the workforce.  You will engage in 27 hours of didactic review and 72 hours of skills practice/hospital clinical time.  Two full Saturdays will be in a local hospital.  This course is offered through the Fresno City College Nursing Program. 

Who should attend:  California registered nurses and foreign educated nurses who posses an active CA Nursing License who wish to re-enter the workforce.

What you'll review / practice:

  • Ensuring a therapeutic and safe environment for patients
  • Identifying patient needs, including developmental and age related needs
  • Planning and implementing patient care based on patient data
  • Writing clear, concise and accurate care plans for patients
  • Administration of medications, transcription and implementation of physician orders
  • Carrying out nursing care procedures in a timely and accurate manner
  • Accurately assessing and documenting physical assessment findings
  • Mastering specific nursing skills utilized in hospital-based practice

Participant requirements:

  • Proof of CA RN License (upon registration)
  • TB Test (within first 4 weeks of class)
  • Criminal Background & Drug Screening through American Databank (within first 4 weeks)
  • Health Care Providers CPR / First Aide (within first 4 weeks)
  • Physical Exam / Proof of Physical Capabilities (within first 4 weeks)
  • Purchase required books and skills kits
  • Purchase parking permit
  • Purchase scrubs
  • Passing score of 76% or better for successful completion
  • 100% attendance required for successful completion

About the instruction - FCC

  • The didactic review, skills practice and hospital clinical time will be taught and facilitated by FCC nursing faculty who have significant experience with hospital-based nursing

Continuing Education Units:  99 CEU's available for successful completers

Cancellation Policy: Cancellations received up to five (5) working days before the course start date are refundable, minus a $25 processing fee.  After that, cancellations are subject to the entire course fee.  Please note that if you don't cancel and don't attend, you are still responsible for payment.
