Testing Exemptions

English Placement Exemption Criteria Math Placement Exemption Criteria

New Student

  • Received a score of 3 or higher on an English Composition or Literature Advanced Placement (AP) exam.
  • Took the Early Assessment Program (EAP) Test and achieved “College Readiness for English” status

The Early Assessment Program (EAP) provides opportunities for students to measure their readiness for college-level English and mathematics in their junior year of high school, and to facilitate opportunities for them to improve their skills during their senior year.

Transferring and/or Returning Students

  • The student took the English placement tests at an SCCCD campus site within the last 2 years.
  • The student took an English class at another college.

Bring a copy of your college transcripts and course descriptions to the FCC Counseling Department for review

New Student

  • The student received a score of 3 or higher on a Calculus AB or Calculus BC Advanced Placement (AP) exam.
  • The student has taken the Early Assessment Program (EAP) Test and achieved “College Readiness for Math” status.
  • The student completed any of the courses listed below with a grade of “C” or higher in both semesters within the last 18 months:
      • Algebra 1
      • Geometry
      • Algebra/Geometry
      • Algebra 2
      • Trigonometry
      • Statistics
      • Pre-calculus
      • Calculus ?

Transferring and/or Returning Students

  • The student took the Math placement tests at an SCCCD campus site within the last 2 years.
  • The student took a Math class at another college.

Bring a copy of your college transcripts and course descriptions to the FCC Counseling Department for review.
