Appealing Your Dismissal
: If you went into dismissal status due to extenuating circumstances that occurred during the Fall or Spring term, check your district email to confirm your status and what the necessary steps are to complete an appeal. Please note: Your email will include the deadline to complete your appeal. Click here for appeal form

Examples of extenuating circumstances:

"Extenuating circumstances" are verified cases of accidents, illnesses, death in the immediate family, jury duty, declaration of war, natural calamity, military conscription, family or job displacement, instructor error, or other circumstances beyond the control of the student which are justifiable in the judgment of the college president or his/her designee.

Returning After Sitting Out: 

DQ1 (sat out 1 semester)

Complete a Petition for Readmission and counselor signature. You may be restricted to less than 12 units and course selections. You must register in person and you may be required to present the yellow copy of the petition to register. You cannot register by WebAdvisor or telephone.

DQ2 (sat out 2 semesters or 1 year)

(a) Must reapply to return and complete an FCC application.  Click here to complete online application or visit Admissions and Records Office.  
(b) Meet with a counselor to complete a Petition for Readmission - Dismissal Status form with counselor signature.
(c) You may be restricted to less than 12 units and course selection. 
(d) Must register in person only; may be required to present the yellow copy of the petition to register.  
(e) Cannot register by WebAdvisor or telephone.
 

DQ3 (sat out 4 semesters or 2 years)

(a) Must reapply to return and complete an FCC application.  Click here to complete online application or visit Admissions and Records Office.  
(b) Meet with a counselor to complete a Petition for Readmission - Dismissal Status form with counselor signature.
(c) You may be restricted to less than 12 units and course selection. 
(d) Must register in person only; may be required to present the yellow copy of the petition to register.  
(e) Cannot register by WebAdvisor or telephone.
 

Make an appointment to see a counselor at (559) 442-8226 or drop in from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday thru Friday, in the Counseling Department or your program counselor. 

NOTE: Disqualification standing does not include summer term. Students interested in taking summer courses should meet with a counselor for approval and obtain an add card to register for classes in person. To make an appointment, please call the Counseling Department at (559) 442-8226.
