CACFP Management Course for Directors of Child Care Centers

2015-16 Promoting Integrity Now (PIN) Training

Course Description: The CACFP Management Course for Directors of Child Care Centers developed to strengthen management and operational practices, and provide regulatory information to Child and Adult Care Food Program sponsors. A portion of the training is required to be completed online prior to the two-day face-to-face training.

Areas to be reviewed in this two-day course include:

  •  Financial management
  •  Eligibility and enrollment requirements
  •  Monitoring and training requirements
  •  Basic nutrition and child nutrition*
  •  Food safety principles*
  •  Record keeping
  •  Administrative reviews

This two-day training is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

Target Audience
This PIN training is designed for new center directors or other staff with administrative and financial responsibilities for the CACFP. Experienced staff who need a refresher course or those whose programs are in a seriously deficient status would also benefit from the training. The focus is child care centers.

Continuing Education Units (CEUs) available:  21.0

The registration fee is $100.00 per person and must be received in our office by the registration deadline. This fee covers the cost of training materials and morning and afternoon refreshments. Lunch is not provided.

Pre-registration is required and will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis.  Enrollment is limited to 40 people per training location. Registration is a two-step process. To register follow the directions below:

Step 1: Online Registration Instructions (CNIPS)

  • You will need your agency’s five digit Child Nutrition Information and Payment System (CNIPS) ID number or your personal User ID and password.
  • Visit the California Department of Education CNIPS Training Web page at to connect to CNIPS and begin the online registration process. Each person must register individually.
  • Use your agency’s CNIPS ID or your personal User ID and password to register and follow the system prompts as shown below:         

           o       Program Training Available screen—Select All

o       Available Training(s) screen—Select CACFP Management Course for Directors of Child Care Centers (PIN)

o       Available Training Location screen—select preferred location

o       After completing the Attendee Information and before selecting the finish button and exiting the system, print your CNIPS Training Confirmation.  You will need to mail a copy of this CNIPS Training Confirmation with your payment. A training confirmation e-mail will be sent to the e-mail address provided upon completion of the registration process.

Step 2: Payment Instructions (FCC Cal-Pro-NET)

  • Mail a copy of your CNIPS Training Confirmation notice and a check, money order, or purchase order for $100.00 payable to the FCC Cal-Pro-NET Center. Credit card payments will not be accepted.
  • Payment must be received by the registration deadline to be officially registered.
  • Once you have registered in CNIPS, you will receive an invoice with payment instructions.
