The Dream Center is designed to provide information and academic counseling to new and continuing undocumented students at Fresno City College.  Counselors and staff assigned to the Dream Center will assist students in overcoming challenges of access and completion of vocational or  transfer-level goals in higher education.  The majority of the students served in this office will be identified as Dreamers, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) or seeking AB 540 status.

The California Dream Act (Assembly Bill 130 and Assembly Bill 131):
The passage of AB 130 and 131 laws allows students who meet AB540 criteria to apply for and receive non-state funded grants and/or scholarships to public colleges and universities.  Specific requirements must be met by students in order to be eligible for the Board of Governors Waiver, Cal Grant and other grant programs.

Questions about changes to DACA?

Following the Presidential Election on Tuesday, November 8, many of our students have questions about DACA, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals.  It is unknown at this time what kind of changes the new administration may make, but students are concerned how they may be affected.  This document from the Immigrant Legal Resource Center (ILRC) can answer some questions students have regarding their status, the risks they may face in renewing and applying for DACA and other resource information.  Students are encouraged to contact the FCC Dream Center if they have questions.

Post Election Talking Points

September 2017 English/Spanish Talking Points

Please be advised that there is a strong possibility that the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program will end during the next President's administration. The new President will be inaugurated on January 20, 2017. If you are planning to apply for DACA, you should do so as quickly as possible. First time applicants need to be aware that their application may not be approved by January 20th. At this time it is uncertain when and how the processing of these first time applications will be handled.

Current DACA students that are within 150 days of their deferred action and work permit ending, should renew their status immediately. The current administration is processing renewals within 8 weeks or less. The attached flyer from Insure America Project is provided for your use. This non-profit organization is providing free legal services to process DACA applications and renewals. The USCIS (federal government) still requires a $465 fee to accompany applications. Effective December 23rd, USCIS will be raising the application fee to $495. Low interest loans are available.

To make an appointment, please contact Insure America Project at (559)573-8053 or email
