History of FCC Women's Tennis
Women’s tennis at Fresno City College has a history of championship teams. The last resurgence began in 1999 and 2000, when the Lady Rams won back-to-back State Championship titles. From the start of this century, The Lady Rams have been the Conference Champions 7 times and most recently won the Big 8 South Conference in 2016. They wrapped up the 2016 season by winning the Ojai Tournament. Next season the team will consist of a majority of freshmen players and two returning sophomores from around the valley. Coach Wiggins has put together another competitive schedule with matches against junior college teams from Northern and Southern California plus a few Division I and II schools. The players like the challenges of conditioning, practice, and competition and want to win for their team and their fans. Please come out and support your Lady Rams tennis team!
Roneva Monreal has been instrumental in reviving the Women's Tennis Program at Fresno City College. Her hard work and dedication has and continues to be recognized throughout the tennis community of the Central Valley. Since her arrival in 2011, the Women's Tennis program has won the Big 8 South Conference in 2012, 2014, and 2016 and has qualified for post-season competition every year. She and her husband, Hector Monreal, reside in Fresno.
