Coach Gianna Rossi is heading into her second year as the head women's water polo coach for the 2013 season. Rossi has plenty of college and high school experience as a player. She graduated from Central High School and went on to play in Division I competition for UC Irvine. While there she scored a school record 64 goals and was named Big West Player of the Year. She graduated in 2009 with a Bachelor's Degree in Social Ecology and a minor in Education.
Fresno City College water polo began in the Fall of 2003. For a long time, area athletes had to travel at least sixty miles to play collegiate water polo. This program has given athletes in the Central Valley a huge opportunity to continue their water polo careers and take it to the next level. The Central Valley has a huge aquatic community and Fresno City College is the perfect place to showcase that talent.
The last six years has seen a gradual increase the competitiveness of the team. The Fall of '06 was the most successful season by far. The Rams placed 3rd in the Big 7 conference, 2nd at Nor-Cals and 4th in the state. This team truly represents the central valley, consisting of athletes from Buchanan, Bullard, Central, Clovis High, Edison, Hanford, Hoover, Sanger, San Joaquin Memorial, Sunnyside and Tulare Union.
This team has set the standard for future FCC teams. Through dedication, hard work and a tremendous sense of Ram Pride, they have joined the local area aquatic clubs that have been working long and hard to show that Central Valley aquatics are a force to be contended with.
