263R - READING AND VOCABULARY
4 units, 4 lecture, (Credit/No Credit only)
Prerequisite: Use of language other than English as a primary language. Designated score on ESL placement test or completion of ESL 262 (formerly English 55A) with a grade of "C" or better.

High-beginning to low-intermediate reading, vocabulary and study skills. Designed to prepare speakers of other languages for ESL 264R.

263W - GRAMMAR AND WRITING
4 units, 4 lecture hours, (Credit/No Credit), Prerequisite: Use of language other than English as primary language. Designated score on ESL placement test or completion of ESL 262 (formerly English 55A) with a grade of "C" or better.

Prerequisite: Use of language othe2r than English as a primary language. Designated score on ESL placement test or completion of ESL 264W (formerly English 54B and ESL 264) with a grade of "C" or better.

Advanced-intermediate writing, grammar and study skills. Designed to prepare speakers of other languages for ESL 67.

270 PRONUNCIATION IMPROVEMENT AND ACCENT REDUCTION
3 units, 3 lecture hours, (Credit/No Credit), (Repeats = 1)
Advisory: Eligibility for ESL 265W, ESL 265R recommended.

Designed for ESL students at the intermediate to advanced levels to improve oral communication (listening/speaking) skills including phonetic accuracy and fluency. Improving oral communication skills results in greater speaker confidence and intelligibility.


67 - WRITING AND GRAMMAR
4 units, 4 lecture hours
Prerequisite: Use of language other than English as a primary language. Designated score on the ESL placement test or completion of ESL 265W (formerly English 54C and ESL 265) with a grade of "C" or better.

Advanced grammar and writing. Designed to prepare speakers of other languages for English 1A. Meets AA/AS degree requirement for writing. (A, CSU)

68 - READING FOR ESL COLLEGE STUDENTS
4 units, 4 lecture hours, (Credit/No Credit)
Prerequisite: Use of language other than English as a primary language. Designated score on ESL placement test or completion of ESL 65R with a grade of "C" or better.

Advances students' skills for mainstream college classes in the areas of vocabulary usage, literal comprehension, critical reading, and cultural inferences. Trains students to use various reading strategies for different organizational patterns of text. Emphasizes reading as a problem-solving process. (A, CSU)
