INSTRUCTORS:

COURSE DESCRIPTION: 
The ICI program consists of three phases: a Core Course, a Foundation Specialty Course, and three related Electives. Becoming a POST – Certified Criminal Investigator requires completion of all three phases (approximately 240 hours) within five years.

The Core Course provides the basic skills common to all investigations. By no means do the students in the ICI program sit passively and listen to lectures. Each student brings a unique perspective and experience, and as such plays a key role in the ICI instructional process. Specially trained investigators and subject matter experts collaborate on course development and teaching. As a result, each student is immersed in a learning environment that closely mirrors his or her real world. Role play, simulated crime scenarios, major case studies, the use of professional actors, and a small class size ensure an active and practical learning environment.

PREREQUISITE: 
ICI courses are open to all full-time investigators or qualified uniformed officers with one-year experience conducting follow-up investigations. ICI only requires a firm commitment from both students and their respective agencies that all courses will be completed.

The ICI program is offered at no cost to the students, as long as their agency is a local law enforcement agency, eligible for POST reimbursement. Students receive a per diem and will be reimbursed for all their travel expenses by POST.
