Admission
Requirements
We hope you apply to Fresno City
College and join our thriving student body. To determine whether
you are
eligible for admission to Fresno City College, please complete
and return these four documents to the International Admissions
Office no later than three months prior to the beginning of the
semester for which you are being considered for admission: May
1 for fall semester, and October 1 for spring semester.

Completed
Admission Application:
Complete the application with a
Number 2 pencil (not to be completed in pen). International Admissions Office
International applicants must have attained 18 years of age by the
semester entry date.

School Records:
Official transcripts/certificates and evidence of graduation
from a secondary school or its equivalent are required. Please
submit records in your language and in English. If records are
not in English, certified translation must be furnished.

TOEFL:
A TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) score of 500 or
more is required from students who are "out of
country." It is advisable that the TOEFL is taken early to
ensure that this information is received at our office by the
application deadline. For more information on the TOEFL please

Financial Statements:
Please
state amount and source of support using the
Affidavit of
Support
form. Also required is a letter from the sponsor's bank
validating that funds are available for the student's living
expenses and school expenses.
Your
admission will be determined upon receipt of these documents. We
will inform you of your status by mail.
Accepted
If you are accepted you will receive the Certificate of
Eligibility (Form I-20) which is necessary for obtaining a visa
from the United States Immigration and Naturalization Service for
F-1 status. Note that the Form I-20 is good only for the
semester(s) for which it is issued and always carries a beginning
and an expiration date.
Incomplete
If your admission status is incomplete for current
entry, you will receive a letter indicating the necessary
documents that will be required to complete your file for future
enrollment.
Not Accepted
If you are not accepted you will receive correspondence
specifying the reason(s).
The Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services (BCIS), an agency
of the Department of Justice, is responsible for enforcing the
laws regulating the admission of foreign-born persons (i.e.,
aliens) to the United States and for administering various
immigration benefits, including the naturalization of qualified
applicants for U.S. citizenship. INS also works with the
Department of State, the Department of Health and Human Services
and the United Nations in the admission and resettlement of
refugees. BCIS is headed by a Commissioner who reports to the
Attorney General.
Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS)
Fresno City College is in compliance with the regulations of
the INS to report the following information to the Student and
Exchange Visitor Program; name, address, country of birth, country
of citizenship, date of birth, course of study, and other
information about your stay at Fresno City College. There is
nothing you need to do to fulfill this requirement, it is taken
care of by the college.
