Frequently Asked Questions
 

Here are some frequently asked questions from other international students. Please read this page and your question may be answered.

Q: Do you provide tours of the school?
A: Yes. Tours of the Fresno City College campus occur during orientation.

Q: Can you pick me up at the airport?
A: We do not pick students up from the airport but we can help you make other arrangements. Please call our office at (559) 442-8224.

Q: Is there housing on campus? Or do you have a   host family program?
A: Fresno City College does not provide student housing. You can apply for a room at the CSU Fresno dormitory. It is recommended that you apply one year in advance. We can help you with off-campus housing and host family information.

Q: Can I get credit for work done at a university in my country?
A: Yes, if it is an accredited university.

Q: Will my work at Fresno City College transfer to a four-year university?
A: Yes, if you take transferable courses. Our counselor will help you plan your curriculum if you want to transfer to a four-year university.

Q: Will you help me transfer when I'm ready?
A: Yes. We will help you locate schools and plan your curriculum to meet the transfer requirements.

Q: Can I work while I am going to school?
A: Yes. You are eligible for on-campus employment in your second semester at Fresno City College. Our Job Placement Center can help you find a job.

Q: Can I get financial assistance/scholarships to help pay my bills?
A: BCIS requires international students to show proof of financial support for the first year. Our application requires that you state the amount and source of support using the Affidavit of Support form. Also required is a letter from your sponsor's bank validating that funds are available for living expenses and school expenses. Please see our Financial Resources page for ideas on supplemental income.


Q: Do I have to go to school full-time?
A: Yes. You must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 units per semester.

Q: How can I get a class schedule?
A: You will get a free class schedule at orientation.

Q: How much is tuition?
A: Please see our Cost of Attendance page for details.

Q: What score is required on the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language)?
A: A score of 500 or higher is required.

Q: What is there to do for fun in Fresno or the surrounding areas?
A: Fresno is centrally located in California and is within a 1-2 hour drive to the mountains or the coastal beaches, and a 3 hour drive to San Francisco or Los Angeles. Please see our Fresno Area Attractions page.
