GraphicThe Math, Science & Engineering Division offers courses for fulfilling requirements in its own programs as well as programs offered by other divisions. Many of the courses are for students in transfer programs. These include courses, which fulfill lower division requirements for majors as well as courses taken for general education. The offering prepares students for continued study at four-year colleges and universities.

Pre-professional lower division curricula are available with majors in such fields as biology, biotechnology, chemistry, dentistry, engineering, forestry, geology, horticulture, mathematics, nursing, medicine, veterinary medicine, physics, pharmacy, and physical therapy.

Special classes in biology, chemistry, and mathematics are offered for students who need to develop skills in these subjects before taking more advanced courses.

Mathematics
Mathematics courses are provided for other divisions of the college as well as for the mathematics, science, and engineering transfer student. Both preparatory and standard lower division courses in mathematics are offered. Opportunities are also provided for the student to improve deficiencies in mathematics skills. Effort is made to stimulate mathematical thinking.

Science
Civilization has its foundations in the natural sciences. An understanding of life requires a knowledge of the underlying principles of science. A wide selection of courses are offered which provide students with useful knowledge of the part science plays in their lives.

Engineering
Completion of the lower division engineering transfer program gives students upper division standing at accredited four-year colleges and universities. Students without the necessary background in certain basic high school subjects may make up this work at the college. Engineering majors should carefully study the catalog of the school to which they plan to transfer.
