The Fresno City College 2008-2009 scholarship application is only available ONLINE through Nelnet Scholarship Manager. You may begin applying after January 1, 2008.
Students need to complete the FCC scholarship online to be considered for any of our scholarships. However, some donors may require additional documents and/or interviews/auditions from their applicants. Please refer to each scholarship criteria for more information. Most scholarships require full time enrollment at Fresno City College, however, the FCC nursing, dental hygiene, and radiological technology scholarships require a minimum of nine units. DSP&S (Disabled Students Programs & Services) scholarships require a minimum of six units or half-time enrollment at FCC. A minimum 2.5 grade point average (GPA) is required, unless otherwise specified. Some scholarships require a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
The following steps will assist you in completing and submitting the application online:
1. You must have a Social Security Number or a Fresno City College ID number before you can apply. When you apply for admission at Fresno City College you will be issued an ID number from the Admissions Office. You must submit the Admissions Application online or through the FCC Admission Office to be eligible to apply for scholarships.
2. The Scholarship GPA Verification Form is required if you are currently a senior at a local high school or have no prior college units completed. You must submit the Scholarship GPA Verification Form to an authorized official at your high school registrars office to verify your GPA.Click here for the Scholarship GPA Verification Form. The completed GPA Verification form is due at the FCC Scholarship office by March 10, 2008.
3. All transcripts from other colleges attended must be on file with the Fresno City College Records Department for evaluation prior to the March 3rd deadline.
4. Two Letters of Recommendation should be completed online by individuals who can attest to your ability to benefit from a college education, need for financial assistance, leadership abilities, interest and participation in school and/or community activities. To complete this online you must have the correct e-mail addresses of the two people you are requesting the recommendations from. Please inform the recommenders that they will receive an e-mail from the Nelnet Scholarship Manager program and must be submitted through the link.
5. You will be required to write a personal statement or autobiographical essay describing your educational and career goals, your community and school involvement, and any special or unique circumstance you would like to share with the scholarship committee if your application is selected for review. Remember to write your personal statement relevant to the scholarship criteria you are applying for. You may use MS WORD to type your statement and then use the “copy and paste” feature to enter your document into the Nelnet Scholarship Manager program.
6. Due to the availability of need-based scholarships you should consider completing a 2008-2009 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) after January 1, 2008. Applying online with FAFSA on the Web at www.fafsa.ed.gov is faster and easier than using a paper FAFSA. Visit our FCC Financial Aid Computer Lab in LI-123 to apply online.
