Our Program

The Ram Tots Early Intervention Program at Fresno City College serves toddlers, aged 16 months-36 months, who have challenges in development and are eligible for Early Start services. In order to meet each Toddler’s individual needs, Early Intervention is provided in the natural environment of the fully inclusive Toddler program setting, the home or in an inclusive community setting. Toddlers attend Ram Tots with their parent/caregiver, together with our regularly enrolled Toddlers. Our Early Interventionists and Teachers hold advanced degrees and licensures in their areas of expertise with young children and families. The Early Intervention curriculum supports all developmental domains founded upon children’s relationships, interests and family routines.

Eligibility: Who may attend the Ram Tots Program?

Toddlers are referred to Ram Tots by Central Valley Regional Center.

Toddlers are referred to Central Valley Regional Center by a child’s parent, pediatrician, teacher, a trusted family member or friend. Central Valley Regional Center will assess the Toddler and will determine if s/he is eligible for Early Start services. After qualifying for Early Start Services, your child may start regular attendance at the Ram Tots program.

Families may contact Central Valley Regional Center at 559-276-4300.

Individual Family Service Plan

Each Toddler and family will work together with the Early Interventionists and Teachers to support and meet the goals and outcomes designated on their Individual Family Service Plan or “IFSP”. The IFSP will be reviewed every six months and new goals and outcomes will be supported.

Transition

Early Start services end at age three. In anticipation of this change, a transition process begins at age two and half. At that time, the Ram Tots team, the Central Valley Regional Center case worker, and a school district representative meet with the family to review progress and share concerns. A plan is made with a determination of the type of evaluation the school district will provide and a timeline established so all parties know when to expect appointments.

Early Intervention Assistants

Our children are supported and served by our Early Intervention Assistants, who are certified according to state recommended standards for Early Start.
