Psychological Services is a program at Fresno City College and Reedley College designed to help meet the mental health needs of the college community.

The following information is specific to Fresno City College.

Working with Counseling and Health Services, Psychological Services offers assistance in a number of areas, including: Personal Growth, Crisis Resolution, Daily Living Problems, Relationship and Family Issues, and as a Support Network for students with more serious Emotional Disorders.

How Do I Make My First Appointment?
You may stop in at Fresno City College Student Health Services Office between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday or between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on Friday. All initial appointments are scheduled through the Health Services office. Subsequent appointments are scheduled with your therapist.

How Fast Can I Get An Appointment?
Appointments are usually available within three to five days of your initial request for services. However, at certain times of the semester this wait may be longer.

Emergencies
Students experiencing psychological emergencies should make this known when they stop in and can be seen immediately or within a matter of hours depending on the nature of the crisis.

Who is Eligible to Receive Services?
Psychological Services provides brief, individual therapy to all students of the State Center Community College District (SCCCD) who are currently enrolled.

Will There Be Any Fees?
All individual therapy sessions are free to eligible students. If psychological testing is necessary, it will also be done at no cost to eligible students.

Where Will My Appointment Be?
Initial contacts and appointments with Psychological Services are made through the Health Services office located in the Student Services Building on both campuses. Upon setting your initial appointment, the Health Services office will direct you to the location of the Psychological Services office. Any subsequent appointments will be handled directly with your therapist and you will be seen in the Psychological Services office.

What Can I Expect From My First Appointment?
Your first appointment will last approximately one hour. Your therapist will discuss with you the reason(s) you are requesting psychological services. Your therapist will also ask you questions about your personal history, your social and intimate relationships, your educational goals, and your expectations for therapy.

At the end of the appointment you and your therapist will decide how to best use the available resources. You may set up another appointment, or be referred to another resource, for example, an off-campus therapist, your physician, or community agency.

Available Time for Appointments
At Fresno City College, the times available for appointments with the Psychological Interns or Trainees are between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. However, Thursday and Friday mornings between 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. will not be available.
