Today is a great day for Fresno City College.
In case you haven’t heard, today January 25, 2017 the Fresno City Council announced and proclaimed that today is Fresno City College Women’s Volleyball Day! I was very proud to attend today’s recognition ceremony with Coach Kieran Roblee and all the team members. It is certainly a proud day for them and a proud day for Fresno City College.
Also, today marks the first time in recent history that Fresno City College has hosted Student Appreciation Week. I’d like to thank Sean Henderson and Ernie Martinez for bringing together our students and faculty to say “We appreciate you.” Our students had a great time meeting Sam the Ram, sipping hot cocoa, and enjoying a few hotdogs and peanut butter cookies.
Tomorrow, myself and about 15 other colleagues from the campus and community will come together to select our planning consultant who will help us start the vigorous and intensive planning process that we need for all of our upcoming construction projects. If you weren’t selected for this particular committee, don’t worry there’ll be lots more committee work ahead of us! If any of you are intensely interested in any of our construction projects, please contact your dean and voice your willingness to participate.
Also, I want to thank all of you for working with Cindy Luna, our accreditation liaison, and doing the hard work that’s needed to prepare for our accreditation visit. I’m confident that our accreditation will be one of the highest distinctions and it will reflect the good work that each and every one of you do every day for our students.
In other exciting news we have an update on the Online Education Initiative Exchange.
Last week, two colleges went live on the project. Students at Fresno City College and Lake Tahoe Community College are currently registering for a handful of classes across campuses. By fall 2017, 24 colleges will be on the exchange. Click here to read more about the FCC’s involvement in this very exciting project.
So as we head into this weekend I just wanted to say thank you for the work you’re doing and I hope you have a great weekend and again I am proud to be a Ram!
