Transitioning to Online Classes

Current Information for Students.

We know this is a difficult time for you as a student. We are committed to helping you continue to be successful in our classes. Learning to use Zoom, Canvas and other online tools is stressful especially if you don’t have the technology or internet access. This page will provide you with the information you need to complete your classes this semester. All of our student support services, tutoring, library and other academic support services are now online and ready to assist you. Please read through the information for ways to access the internet, request a laptop, iPad, MiFi or calculator, make an appointment with a counselor, find a tutor or librarian, learn how to use Zoom or Canvas, and so much more. Technology and Book Returns for fall 2020

Library materials check-in and checkout is located in the Library’s West Wing with entrance through the Peace Garden. Please follow signage.

Library Hours November 30 - December 16

  • Monday - Thursday 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
  • Saturday 9:00 am – noon

Laptops

All laptops (and chargers, bags, etc.) must be returned to the Library by December 16 to avoid a fine on your account. Back up any documents you saved on the laptop in the cloud or on a separate device before returning your laptop. Laptops need to be returned even if you are registered for classes in spring 2021. You can check out a laptop for spring semester beginning January 6 (you will be able to make an appointment when you return your laptop).

iPads

If you are enrolled in Spring 2021

You do not need to return the iPad if you are enrolled in classes for the spring semester. You will need to renew your iPad by either calling the library at 559-442-8204 or online HERE. It is your responsibility to renew your iPad. There are a few iPads that will need to come back for inventory reasons. You will be contacted by phone and email if your device needs to be brought in.

If you are not enrolled in Spring 2021

You must return the iPad you used this semester by December 11, 2020 during our open hours, no appointment needed.

MiFis

If you are enrolled in Spring 2021

You do not need to return you MiFi IF you are enrolled in classes for spring semester. You will need to renew your MiFi by either calling the library at 559-442-8204 or online HERE. It is your responsibility to renew your MiFi. Please NOTE: Some MiFis will expire between December 11 and 31. If your device stops working, you can come to the library after January 6 to exchange for a new one.

If you are not enrolled in Spring 2021

You must return the MiFi you used this semester by December 11, 2020 during our open hours, no appointment needed.

Calculators

All calculators must be returned to the Library by December 11, 2020.

Books

All books must be returned to the library by December 11 in the book return box located in the back of the library.

Spring Technology Check-outs

Students can now make appointments to use the Library computer lab and study space Mon-Thu 9 AM-4 PM and Fri 9 AM-2 PM. Call the Library to make an appointment through December. See how we're keeping everyone safe during re-opening.

Safety Requirements

All persons checking out material from the library building must do the following:

  • Wear a face covering and sanitize hands
  • Have a valid photo ID ready to show (can be any of the following: FCC ID, driver’s license, California ID, passport, high school ID, work ID)
  • Follow social distancing rules

There are many service providers who are providing free or reduced fees for internet services during this crisis. There are links to those providers below.

Counseling Department provides online counseling for current students. Academic Counseling is available by contacting your specific counseling office. The  Counseling Department can be reached at  559.442.8226, please leave a message and your call will be returned with 24 hours during normal business hours or email at  fcccounseling@fresnocitycollege.edu.

Academic Counseling for new students is available online and by calling  559.442.8225.

All staff are currently telecommuting to reduce the spread of COVID-19.  Please email questions for the Business Office to CBO@fresnocitycollege.edu to take care of your financial needs. We will respond as quickly as possible. You may call 559.489.2234.  During busy periods all lines may be utilized while we assist other callers.  If during normal business hours you experience your call not connecting to a staff member, please call back or email.
