August 12 is the first day of the Fall semester and there are still many open classes. Students will be able to add classes throughout the first two weeks of the semester by attending the classes and asking instructors to add them. If there is room in the class, the instructor will give the student an add slip. Friday, August 30 is the last day to add a full-term class.
Here are a few items of note for the beginning of the semester.
A number of classes have seats available as the semester begins including a number of online classes. Look for openings in many business classes including accounting, computer information technology, marketing, and business administration. English, math, science, cultural studies, music, theatre arts and PE classes are also available.

Fresno City College is now a tobacco-free campus. No smoking of any kind is allowed on any college property on campus or off. This comes following the adoption of a new resolution by the California Community College Board of Governors in 2018. The State Center Community College District Board of Trustee in June adopted a board policy authorizing the ban. FCC is now in the process of removing all old signage regarding smoking and will soon install new signage.
We welcome to the campus this year the Design Science Middle College High School. Classes and offices will be located in our Business Education building pending a future site on campus. The partnership between FCC and Fresno Unified School District’s Design Science Middle College High School began in 2005. Recently honored as a 2019 California Distinguished School, the high school is performing above and beyond the rest of the high schools in this service area. Twenty‑one of the 61 graduates of the class of 2019 earned an associate degree from FCC along with their high school diploma, 15 with honors.
The FCC free parking shuttle will run August 12 to September 6, Monday – Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and on Fridays, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Students can take the free parking shuttle from Parking Lot X behind Ratcliffe Stadium (east of Blackstone Ave.) to five drop-off locations throughout the campus. Pick-up is every 15 minutes at each stop.
Students can also get a free Fresno FAX bus pass with the purchase of an ASB card. The card is $5 each semester and offers students discounts at participating businesses around Fresno, along with the free FAX pass.
