Statement from head baseball coach Ron Scott on the passing of Tom Seaver
Fresno City College head baseball coach Ron Scott is responding with a heavy heart to the passing of FCC alumnus and Hall of Fame legend, Tom Seaver, who died on Monday at the age of 75. Seaver played for the Rams in Spring 1964.
“Tom Seaver is the Greatest Baseball Player that ever put on a Fresno City College Baseball uniform. When opposing teams walked onto our park and saw the names on the wall, they always said, ‘Wow! Tom Seaver went here?’ He was a First Ballot Hall of Famer!! Our thoughts and prayers are with the Seaver Family,” he said.
Adding to the sorrow is that news of Seaver’s passing falls on the first anniversary of the death of assistant baseball coach Sam Flores.
In addition, former FCC sports publicist Woody Wilk has written a touching tribute to Tom Seaver that is now posted on the California Community College Athletic Association's website.
