Theatre Arts

The Fresno City College Theatre Arts Department is the only community college in Fresno County that offers degree and transfer options to students who enroll in our program. The department strives to be relevant and current with the productions offered each year and supports new plays and emerging playwrights.

By selecting theatrical productions that are challenging and inspiring to our students and faculty the seasons offer plays that students can excel in, reflect the demographics of our campus and fill the cultural gap that exists in the community we serve.

Auditions are open to all Fresno City College students. They consist of two components: the preliminary auditions in which the directors are introduced to your skills and the callbacks during which the directors look more closely at your skills in relation to the show’s needs.

Monologues- For General Acting Auditions, prepare a monologue with a maximum length of one and a half minutes (including your introduction).

You should prepare for callbacks by reading the plays for which you are auditioning. This will help you put readings in context and will give you valuable knowledge about characters and their relationship to others in the play.

Please contact the directors, Janine Christl and Chuck Erven for copies of scripts and other questions you may have.
