Fresno City College to Host Día de los Muertos Celebration Featuring Aztec Dancers, Procession, and Altar Display
Fresno City College (FCC) invites the community to its annual Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebration on Tuesday, November 4, 2025. The cultural event, hosted by the Latino Faculty and Staff Association (LFSA), Student Activities, Puente, and MEChA, honors the lives of those who have passed with vibrant tradition and community engagement.
The event will take place from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM on the University Mall, located between the Student Services Building and the Library.
Schedule of Highlights and Activities
The celebration will feature a full morning of free activities and cultural performances:
9:00 AM – 12:00 PM: Visitors can explore elaborate Altar Displays created by 16 diverse campus departments and clubs. Free Pan Dulce, coffee, and hot chocolate will be provided throughout the morning.
10:30 AM: Procession: A ceremonial procession will feature a "live" Catrina and traditional Aztec dancers.
10:50 AM: Concheros Dancers: A special performance by the Concheros (traditional dancers) will take place.
11:00 AM: Costume Contest: Guests are invited to participate in the costume contest, with prizes awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.
Hands-on activities available for all attendees will include face painting, canvas painting, and workshops for making traditional decorative elements like papel picado and flowers.
Campus Community Collaboration
The altars, which serve as the centerpiece of the event, reflect broad participation across the FCC community. Display creators include the Chicano Latino Studies Program, Counseling, the English Department, the Veterans Resource Center, the African American Faculty and Staff Association, the Rainbow Alliance Staff and Faculty Association (RASFA), and many more, highlighting a campus-wide commitment to cultural recognition and celebration.
