In support of our ongoing institutional student equity efforts, this fall, Fresno City College will participate in the Community College Equity Assessment Lab (CCEAL) Institutional Assessment Package (IAP). CCEAL is a national research laboratory under the Interwork Institute at San Diego State University. CCEAL supports community colleges with research, assessment, and training activities that support the success of historically underserved students of colour. The IAP is a comprehensive assessment package for examining factors that influence student success in community colleges.
The package includes three instruments that are designed to identify areas in need of enhanced attention for institutional practice and professional development that gain insights from students, faculty, and student services professionals. These instruments are the Community College Success Measure (CCSM: Student Survey), Community College Instructional Development Inventory (CCIDI: Faculty Survey), and the Community College Staff Development Inventory (CCSDI: Student Services Survey). Each instrument has been subjected to extensive psychometric testing for face validity, content validity, construct validity, and reliability.
The CCSM: Student Survey will be administered in a random sample of classes at FCC in November 2017; instructors whose classes are sampled will receive specific information from Institutional Research.
The CCIDI: Faculty Survey will be sent to all full-time and adjunct faculty via email in October 2017. Faculty will receive specific information and instructions from the FCC Office of Instruction and Institutional Research.
The CCSDI: Student Services Survey will be distributed to all Student Services professionals via email in October 2017. Student Services professionals will receive specific information from the FCC Office of Student Services and Institutional Research.
Ultimately, survey findings and reports will reveal areas in need of enhanced attention for institutional practice and professional development towards advancing student equity at FCC.
