We have many people and milestones to celebrate in these last few weeks of the semester!
Last week head baseball coach Ron Scott won his 1000th game with a win over Cerro Coso last Tuesday in Ridgecrest. Coach Scott, in his 30th season at FCC, has accumulated this1000th win record with 377 losses and 2 ties. He has 20 conference championships, 9 final four appearances and one state championship (1992) under his belt.
He’s in legendary company with only one other California Community College baseball coach ahead of him, retired Santa Ana College coach Don Sneddon who finished his 32-year career in 2014 with 1072 wins. The Rams finished first in the Central Valley Conference and will host first round regional playoffs this Friday, May 4 and Saturday, May 5 against Folsom Lake College. Friday’s game is at 3 p.m. and Saturday’s games are at 11 a.m. and 2:45 pm if necessary.
Dr. Margaret Mericle will be honored with the 2018 Dr. Bill Stewart Achievement of Excellence Award on Tuesday, May 8th at the Employee Recognition Ceremony in the FCC Cafeteria at 2:00 pm. This award honors a district employee who best exemplifies qualities in leadership, innovation, vision, and hard work. Peg has served Fresno City College for 19 years as associate dean and dean of instruction of social sciences. She has developed key educational and business partnerships, assists with grant writing, mentors new deans and works tirelessly on many committees while maintaining her goal of students having a seamless experience between student services and instruction.
