Veterans Ceremony
On Wednesday, November 5, the 32nd Veterans Ceremony will be held at 11:30 a.m. in Veterans Square honoring our veterans in healthcare. This year the Citizen Soldier Award will be presented to Police Academy faculty member Johnny Fisher. The keynote speaker is U.S. Navy Veteran Dr. Kathleen Rindahl who is the Director of the School of Nursing at Fresno State. ABC30 Anchor, Margot Kim will be singing the National Anthem.
Automotive Technology Career Day
The FCC Advanced Transportation Center at the West Fresno Center is hosting the California New Car Dealers Association Career Day on Friday, November 14 from 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. This event targets high school students and will provide them with information on the transportation industry. They will also learn about the various career pathways that are available. Students will meet the FCC automotive faculty and will tour the center.
Men of Color Summit
Fresno City College is once again hosting the Men of Color Summit on Friday, November 14 from 9:00 am – 2:00 p.m. This event is sponsored in part by State Center Community College District including Madera Community College, Reedley College and Clovis Community College. The goal of the Men of Color Summit is to address the decline in higher education enrollment and to show young men of color that they belong in college and can thrive in impactful careers that require a college education.
Focus Forward Magazine Launch
FCC student, Maria Gonzalez, is featured in the 2025 Focus Forward magazine that was unveiled on October 29 at Roger Rocka’s Dinner Theater. Maria is headed to Fresno Pacific University in the spring where she plans to pursue a degree in social work. A re-entry student, she enrolled at FCC after experiencing divorce and incarceration. Wanting a fresh start, her dream is to create a family restoration center for youth that provides a nurturing and healing environment.
Learning In Action
FCC English instructor, Ernesto Reyes, was a featured writer in the online publication, Inside Higher Ed on October 22. His topic, Ask your Students Why They Use AI, provided some of the reasons students utilized the software for writing assignments.
FCC Computer Information Technology instructor, Todd McLeod is an advisor for the student Startup Club and has organized a joint field trip with CSU FresnoandFCC students to tour the Tesla manufacturing facility in Fremont on December 2nd. A total of 46 students will participate.
Jazz Ensemble Concert
The FCC Jazz Ensemble is performing on Wednesday, November 12, in the theatre at 7:30 p.m. The concert is directed by music jazz instructor Paul Lucckesi.
Art Space Gallery

Local photographer, Claire Evans, will exhibit her work in the Art Space Gallery from November 10 – January 29, 2026. Her photography captures the textures, colors, strangeness and beauty of life in the sacrifice zone of neighborhoods in Fresno. Mexican Sculpture Displayed at FCC
In partnership with Arte Americas and State Center Community College District, FCC is home to a 20-foot-tall, fantastic animal sculpture celebrating the art and traditions of Mexico. The Lionbull, created by Mexico City artist, Leonardo Linares, is displayed in front of the FCC Library through December 7. FCC is part of a larger community exhibition with seven other large-scale sculptures on display at Arte Americas and Fresno State.
Fall Carnival Best Costume Video Goes Viral
FCC Budget Technician Alice Lee not only won the Best Costume Award at the FCC Fall Carnival on October 24, a video featuring her costume was filmed and posted by student communication specialist Mark Tabay on the college’s Instagram platform went viral! The video received over 10 million views with thousands of shares, one from ESPN.
Portraits of a 1st Generation Student
On November 4, a special photo exhibit and panel discussion was held featuring first generation FCC students in the Old Administration Building Auditorium. The exhibit featured 35 1st generation students, faculty, staff and community members. It was sponsored by Trio, EOPS/Next-Up/Care and the President’s Office.
Chancellor's Circle Luncheon
FCC is hosting a Chancellor’s Circle Luncheon on November 14 at the college’s Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) training center. This is a vital career pathway in the Applied Technology Division that trains and prepares students as skilled technicians in the HVAC profession. Circle members will also meet local industry partners who provide access to new technology for students.
10th San Joaquin Valley Manufactuers Alliance Summit Held
FCC was the title sponsor at the annual SJVMA Valley Made Manufacturing Summit on October 29 at the Fresno Exhibit Hall. This was the largest gathering of manufacturers in the region, that brought over 900 industry leaders, business executives, educators and policymakers together. The college has 5 manufacturing-related programs that include Computer Aided Drafting & Design, Computer Aided Manufacturing, Electrical Systems Technology, Maintenance Mechanic and Welding.
West Fresno Center Speaker
On November 4, Nathan Gilbert, the Regional Director of the Better Business Bureau was the featured speaker at the Serving Success event held at the West Fresno Center. It was open to all students and included a resource fair and student and staff exhibits.
Dia De Los Muertos
The Latino Faculty and Staff Association decorated Día de los Muertos altars that were displayed in front of the Library on November 4. Marigolds, the traditional/iconic flower, were used to decorate the altars for the dead. Altars were created with offerings for the dead that included photos, candles, food, mezcal and tequila, sugar skulls and the cempasúchil. The belief is that the bright colors of the flower lead the souls of the dead from their final resting place back to the homes of their loved ones for the festivities.
Inaugural Parenting Student Conference
A sneak peek fundraiser will be held to benefit the FCC Dance Program on November 6 at 7:30 p.m. in the Theatre. The event will include guest performances by Fresno State dance student Dana Cole and the Clovis East Dance Program. Funds raised will support student scholarships, future guest artists and performance needs. Tickets are $20 each.
Theatre Production
The fall theatre production, Salome, is a powerful one-act tragedy. The play opens amidst a lavish, drunken banquet where King Herod and Queen Herodias preside. When Salomé slips away to meet the prophet Jokanaan, her immediate, fervent obsession with him is quickly rejected. Her spurned love sets her on a path of dark vengeance, culminating in her agreeing to dance the notorious Dance of the Seven Veils after the King promises her anything she desires in return. It starts November 19 in the Studio Theatre with a fundraiser, tickets are $10 each.
Sports Update

Wrestling Captures 2025 Northern Regional Title
The FCC Wrestling team has been voted the No. 1 ranked team in the
state. On October 20, they collected three straight, convincing wins beating
Skyline College 46-3, Santa Rosa College 43-10 and Sacramento City
College 32-12 to advance to the state championships for the 11th consecutive
year. On November 23, FCC will host Mt. San Antonio in the 3C2A state Dual Championship.
Volleyball
The Volleyball team continues their stride through the Central Valley
Conference with a 4-0 record and 19-4 overall. They host Clovis on
November 5 and Reedley College on November 12.
Soccer
Men’s soccer is 3-2 in conference play and 7-2-6 overall. Head coach Eric
Solberg is retiring after 27 years, his last home game is on November 11
at 12:30 p.m.
Women’s soccer continues to dominate the Central Valley Conference with
a 11-0 record and 13-2 overall.
Football

November 1 is the last home game for head coach Tony Caviglia as he plans on retiring from football after 27 years at FCC. The Rams will host College of the Sequoias at 1:00 pm at Ratcliffe Stadium. The game will be livestreamed on YouTube.
Runner of the Week
Cross Country runner, Itzel Gonzales was named the 3C2A Northern California Region Female Runner of the Week after a strong performance, placing 6th overall at the Mt. San Antonio College Invitational on October 22. She has shown consistent progress throughout the season.
