How to Apply to Retail Management Certificate Program
Program Overview
Fresno City College (FCC) Retail Management Certification Program (RMCP) is an approved college to secure a Western Association of Food Chains (WAFC) Certification. To provide flexibility for working adults, FCC’s program is comprised of eight 9-week courses that are held completely online. Because life events may interrupt your program, students may skip a 9-week session and continue your program.
New Student - How to Enroll
Step 1: Start Your CCC (California Community College) Application:
Create a California Community College (OpenCCC) account at CCCApply.org.
- Click “Apply”
- In the Apply Today box, search for Fresno City College
- Click “Create an Account”

If you are an existing student within the California Community College system, please login and proceed.
Step 1 Create your Account

Step 2 Confirm Application:
Once you have completed your CCC application, click “Continue” to create a secure CCC Application to FCC.

Step 4: Next Steps
- You will receive a SCCCD Admission Application Receipt email, so check your personal email account to know you are on the right path!
- You will receive a second email containing an “Application Acknowledgement” message. This message will provide you with your College Student ID Number and instructions for setting up your Free Student Email Account. You must activate your student email to receive important messages from the college and your instructors!
- Wait one business day after receiving your “Application Acknowledgement” to activate your SCCCD student email account at http://www.scccd.edu/studentlogin.
- Complete the online student orientation. The link should be provided in your “Application Acknowledgement” email message. If link is not received contact: 559-442-8233 / retailmanagement@fresnocitycollege.edu. The orientation is required for you to become eligible to register for classes.
- Check your new SCCCD student email account regularly for important messages. Your student email (***@my.scccd.edu) is the ONLY official means of communication between the college and students.
- Watch your student email account for a message with the following subject line: “Spring 2025 (or upcoming term) Registration Information.” This message states that you are now eligible to register for the term named.
- Forward the email stating you are “eligible to register” for classes to retailmanagement@fresnocitycollege.edu from your student (@myscccd.edu) email account to be added to the current Fresno City College Retail Management Certificate Program.
- If you are affiliated with one of the Western Association of Food Chains (WAFC) members, please provide the name of your company/organization in your email message.
- If you have any transcripts to be considered for review, please provide your unofficial transcripts as soon as possible to avoid course duplication. Submit unofficial transcripts to:retailmanagement@fresnocitycollege.edu for immediate counselor review. If required, you will meet with your counselor via phone/zoom to discuss any required documentation.

Company Sponsored Students: You will receive emails throughout the semester notifying you of your balance due. If you are a sponsored student, in good standing with your company program, your company is paying for your courses. Please disregard these email messages.
Sponsorship billing to your company takes place at the end of the first week of the last course of the semester.
- The drop deadline, without a financial penalty is the 1st Thursday of the course by 5pm.
- Any date up to the halfway marker of the course there is a financial penalty, which you may be liable for, however you may withdrawal from the course and not receive a grade.
- You will receive the grade you earned past the halfway mark date of the course.
