Fresno City College is only days away from the beginning of the Fall 2020 semester on August 10. Every year, FCC holds Ram Ready, a new student welcome. This year, FCC will still have Ram Ready but in a different format due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Ram Ready is going virtual.
Ram Ready will feature digital resources and live activities offered throughout the week of August 3-7. The event aims to assist students in preparing for the upcoming semester and provide students opportunities to interact with faculty and staff to ask question and receive useful information.
"The multifaceted event includes online tutorials designed to help new students become familiar with the college with an extra emphasis on distance learning and technology," said Emilee Slater, Director of College Relations and Outreach. "This event is recommended not only for new students, but students new to online classes as well,"she added.
Students will have an opportunity to engage with FCC faculty, staff, and students through live events offered daily on YouTube, Instagram, and Zoom. These live events include workshops and Q&A sessions on financial aid, library and tutorial services, DSPS, Canvas and Zoom, textbooks and more.
These resources are available to students to view on their own schedule. If they are not able to attend a live event, recorded versions will be available on the website after they have finished. Students can use the resources in a format that works for them.
Information Presentation
The information presentation is a series of videos featuring FCC students, faculty, staff (and our College President, Dr. Goldsmith) that covers many important topics such as how to purchase textbooks, Financial aid basics, what services are available to students and how to utilize them, how to add classes, etc. This year a special emphasis has been placed on technology and online learning such as how to log in to the student portal, how to use Zoom, or how to check out a laptop or WiFI device.
Live Tutorials/Workshops
Ram Ready will also offer live events throughout the week where students can meet faculty and staff, ask question about financial aid or tutorial services, learn more about the bookstore or library services, ext. Students will have an opportunity to meet their Ram Pathways team which are made of counselors, faculty, and staff committed to the success of the students in a group of related programs of study.

Students who participate in the event will have the opportunity to win prizes such as gift cards to Amazon, DoorDash, and more.
