Women's History Month

Fresno City College will kick off Women’s History Month on March 7, by celebrating International Women’s Day a day early.  The opening event will be held in Veterans Square beginning at Noon.  SCCCD Chancellor Carole Goldsmith will provide opening remarks. Other FCC faculty, staff, and students will also share their insights on the  Women’s History Month theme Inspire Inclusion.

This year’s schedule also include a wide range of events for the month that feature self-defense workshops, poetry readings, presentations, and a panel discussion.

THURSDAY, MARCH 7
Opening Day Ceremonies: Celebrating International Women's Day
12:00 – 1:00 pm
Veterans Square

Dr. Goldsmith will make opening remarks. Students will share their visions for empowerment through performances. Several faculty and staff will address the theme of “Inspire Inclusion.” Decorations from Child Development Center.

Self-Defense Workshop
11:00 – 12:00 pm
Outside between the Social Sciences and Business Education buildings
Free self-defense workshop by Kellen Prandini. The topic of this self-defense workshop is the use of elbows.

MONDAY, MARCH 11
Young Women in Business

Panel discussion featuring young local women in business. These women will share their experiences and answer questions relating to owning a business.

Intersectionality: Identities All at Once

With FCC English instructor and author of Black Feminism and Traumatic Legacies in Contemporary African American Literature, Dr. Apryl Lewis. Join us for a talk and craft activity.

Pi Day Show

Main Fountain
The annual Pi Day Show is a woman-forward science show for the community. It is hosted by the Society of Women Engineers and Science and Engineering clubs. There will be some fun science demos, women in STEM-related trivia, and of course, lots of pie.
