Commencement for Class of 2025 is Friday, May 23

May 22, 2025

The FCC Commencement Ceremony will be held at the Save Mart Center on Friday, May 23 at 6:30 p.m. as proud families and friends watch their graduates fulfill their dreams of earning a college degree.  Degrees to be conferred include Associate in Science, Associate in Arts, and Associate Degrees for Transfer.

This is another record year for the number of students graduating. There are over 2,900 students who are eligible to participate in the ceremony earning 3,280 degrees.   The number of graduates earning degrees has increased each year since 2016. Approximately 1,316 students have submitted their response to attend the ceremony.

For the first time ever, the college will welcome a U.S. Senator to speak at the commencement ceremony. The honorable Adam Shiff, U.S. Senator for California will address the graduates.  Senator Schiff, a graduate of Stanford University and Harvard Law School, has served California in public office for nearly three decades. In 2024, he was elected to the U.S. Senate following more than 20 years in the House of Representatives, where he earned national recognition for his leadership on issues ranging from national security to civil rights. Senator Schiff also taught political science at Glendale Community College, giving him a direct appreciation for the role community colleges play in transforming lives.

This year’s Commencement Distinguished Alumnus Award recipient is Zack Darrah, the Chief Executive Officer of the Poverello House. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Fresno Pacific University in 2007 and in 2013, a Master of Arts in Theological Studies from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary in Lynchburg, VA . After graduating from San Joaquin Memorial High School, he began his college journey at FCC attending from Fall 2001 through Summer 2002. He returned to FCC in Spring 2005 before transferring to Fresno Pacific University.

Guests do not need to purchase tickets to attend the ceremony. Parking at the Save Mart Center is $10 per car. A Clear Bag Policy at the center requires all bags be clear and not exceed 12″ x 6″ x 12″ inches. Please reference the FAQs for all info and rules for guests attending the ceremony.

The ceremony will be live streamed on the Fresno City College YouTube Channel.
