The annual FCC Dance Expo is upon us! On Saturday, July 26, celebrate a day of dance with Fresno City College faculty and community master dance teachers. Classes are offered throughout the day to dancers of all ages and abilities. We will showcase diverse styles, genres, and cultures.
“This year’s event will continue our tradition to educate the public and dance students about dance movements and art – cultural diversity is off the charts in Fresno, and we are unique in that we find that people in this community like to take dance classes,” said Cristal Tiscareno, FCC Dance instructor and Dance Expo coordinator.
The FCC Dance Program has reached unprecedented heights. In February 2025, they participated in the prestigious American College Dance Association (ACDA) regional conference. Out of 40 regional submissions, two of their pieces were selected for the Northwest Gala:
- Chasm of Paradoxes by student choreographer Jacob Gasca
- Dis(connect) by guest artist Hannah Millar This historic selection marks the first time both of our submissions were chosen to represent our region at the Gala. Further recognition came when Dis(connect) was selected as one of only three dances to represent the Northwest region at the John F. Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. Chasm of Paradoxes was honored as an alternate.
In May, the dance students traveled to Washington D.C. for a prestigious performance and networking opportunity, joining dancers from 44 colleges nationwide. They have now been invited to perform one of their pieces, Dis(connect) at Jacob’s Pillow in Becket, Massachusetts on August 6, 2025, as part of the ACDA Highlights program. The Henry J. Leir Stage is a world-renowned venue—where icons like Martha Graham, Alvin Ailey, and Mikhail Baryshnikov have danced—is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
All proceeds from the Dance Expo 2025 will help support the trip to Becket, Massachusetts.
