FCC News: Fire Academy Class 64 Graduation Slated for December 5

The Fresno City College Fire Academy will hold a completion ceremony in the Old Administration Building Auditorium on Friday, December 5 at 6:00 p.m. for Fire Academy Class #64.
Fire Academy Class #64
The class motto for Class #64 is “We Want it More!” Its 28 cadets have completed 1,004 hours of training required by the California State Fire Marshal’s Office Accredited Fire Academy to earn their Firefighter 1 and 2 certifications and numerous other certifications.
On the program are FCC College president Dr. Denise Whisenhunt and Fire Academy Director Peter Cacossa. Class president Julian Mendoza and class vice president Max Mahoney will also speak representing the cadets.
In addition, several awards will be presented:
- Academic Excellence Award
- Michael Collins Memorial Award
- Captain Jim Deaver Scholarships
- Captain Oney Durney Mentorship Award
- Top Gun Award
Two fire cadets have been hired by and have started with the City of Fresno Fire Department. The 26 other cadets have internships after graduation with Fresno County Fire, North Central, Selma, Sanger, Kingsburg, and Hanford Fire Department. All will be acknowledged at the ceremony.
