Mariposa Mural opening in Downtown Fresno
Fresno, CA – On July 18, 2025, Downtown Fresno and the State Center Community College District celebrate the opening of a new mural near the Mariposa Plaza. Funded by Measure P, this mural project is led by Fresno City College faculty member and local artist, Daniel DeMeza, along with Fresno City College art students.
DeMeza shares, “The mural stands for hope, family, diversity, and the bearers of our culture in a family - mothers. The family is standing together in strength looking towards a better future.” Their work began in July 2024 and comes to life on the parking garage owned by the State Center Community College District at the corner of Broadway and Mariposa Streets.
The opening celebration will take place on Friday, July 18 at 9 am in the Helm Building parking lot facing the SCCCD parking lot where the mural is located. DeMeza and the featured student artists will share their connection to the mural and leadership from State Center Community Colleges District and the Downtown Fresno Partnership will share words of congratulations. Musical artist, Salome, will also be performing special music.
