Ram Football Season Opener
Fresno City College (FCC) officially begins its 78th football season on Saturday, August 30, marking the 26th year for Head Coach Tony Caviglia at the helm. After an impressive 8-3 record last season, including a 3-1 mark in the Valley Conference, the Rams are ready to build on their success.
Coach Caviglia, with a remarkable 195-80 record over his career at FCC, is counting on returning sophomore quarterback Ya’j Vance (Edison High) to lead the offense.
"We're excited to start the season at home against Diablo Valley College," said Coach Caviglia. "We have 63 new players on the roster, but Ya'j had a great offseason. He's bigger, stronger, and faster, and he understands the offense well. I'm excited to see him lead this team."
The Rams' opening game is against the Diablo Valley College Vikings, a team they defeated 37-13 in their 2024 opener. Last season, the Rams' offense was a balanced attack, averaging 360.7 yards per game and just over 27 points per game. Their defense was equally strong, holding opponents to an average of just 14 points per game.
While the focus is on the season opener, the Rams will face a challenging schedule, including a matchup with defending state champion College of San Mateo on September 27 at 5 p.m. at home. Last season, the Rams came close to upsetting the eventual state champions, losing 14-7.
This season, the Ram home games will be live streamed on the FCC YouTube Channel in partnership with CMAC.
The Rams are looking for a strong start to the season as they aim to improve upon last year's performance and contend for the Valley Conference title.
