Special Message: April 7, 2021
Good afternoon colleagues,
I hope everyone enjoyed the Spring Break and were able to disconnect from your courses and committees and get some much-deserved rest! Linked is the Board Report that will be presented at today’s meeting with the State Center Community College District Trustees. There are several stories that highlight your dedication to our students, community and each other. I hope you enjoy reading it.
In today’s good news, we continue to see our community health indicators improve – almost 20 million shots in arms and stable hospitalization rates. Additionally the UCSF COVID 10 Equity Vaccine Center efforts exceeds expectations in terms of increasing the number of residents vaccinated. If you have not had the opportunity to be vaccinated, we are hearing reports of “almost no wait time” at the Fresno City College site. So now may be the time get vaccinated!
We have made incredible progress in controlling the spread of COVID-19, please stay vigilant. As the Governor announced we are hoping to fully reopen our economy on June 15. Let’s stay the course and please wear your mask and practice universal precautions.
We will share more news with you as we learn more from the Governor’s Office and State Chancellor’s Office. Until then, we will continue with our recovery and return plans. Speaking of planning, mark your calendar for Friday, April 23 at 12 pm for a Virtual Open Forum where we will provide updates on all of the FCC Construction Projects – Parking, New Science Building, Child Development Center, First Responder Center and the West Fresno Campus. If you have not had a chance to watch the construction site at West Fresno, check out the webcam at the site. More construction cams will be coming soon.
Stay well,
Dr. Carole Goldsmith
President
