Dr. McMichael is a husband, father, and grandfather whose passions are family and teaching. After more than a decade and a half in the classroom (he began his career in Pennsylvania in 2010), he still can't believe that his “job” is to talk to smart people about cool stuff!
Dr. McMichael loves helping his students achieve their academic goals and develop their critical thinking skills through philosophical conversations. He often describes philosophy as "thinking in slow motion," and encourages his students to question assumptions, take nothing for granted, and always employ a healthy dose of skepticism (even towards the claims he makes in class). He believes that philosophy is a collaborative effort that progresses through discussions that include the unique lived experiences his students bring to the classroom.
