Mr. Dowis has a bachelor's degree and master's degree in Biology and did his master's research in Marine Biology, studying the evolution of endothermy in tunas and sharks. He has 16 years of experience teaching general biology, majors biology, and field biology classes at FCC. He has a strong background in ecology and field biology and has extensive experience working as an environmental consultant in California. He is one of the co-creators and teachers of the Field Biology Certificate program here at FCC. The Field Biologist Certificate program is designed to provide students with education and training in various aspects of field biology in preparation for entry level employment in the environmental consulting field, government agencies, and field research.
